Healthy through the Holidays

Here we are again. Embarking once again in what we lovingly call "the most WONDERFUL time of the year". But let me tell you, this "wonderful time of year" far too easily becomes the most BUSY and OVERWHELMING time of the year for many of us, myself included! So this year I invite you to be intentional to slow down and put your focus first on what matters most, Jesus, and leave all of those fun holiday extras for second place. No I am not inviting you to join me for a fast of all things holiday because y'all I LOVE Christmas! I love the lights. I love the movies. I love the Christmas cheer. And I even love the festive bell ringers outside of the local Wal-Mart. So you better believe ALL of the Holiday fun will still be taking place all throughout the month here at the Johnson home. What I AM inviting you to is a month of intentionality that says "though the holidays may be crazy I am not going to allow them to make ME crazy in the process". How are we going to do that? By putting our time with HIM first and foremost in our hearts, our minds, and our homes with a fun little December Accountability Challenge.

I'm sure by now all of your task driven type A-ers out there are already thinking to yourself...."OK Lady! Just give me the details." So without further ado I give to you my 2021 Healthy Soul December Challenge.

When does it start? Wednesday, December 1, 2021

When does it end? Wednesday, December 22, 2021

What am I committing to? This challenge is 3 fold - First, you are committing to be intentional to give the Lord the first 5 minutes of your day, no matter the holiday crazy, each day this month. Second, join me in reading through "The Purpose of Christmas" by Rick Warren. This could be something you read just for you or even a book you use as a daily advent read aloud as family. It's an easy read and the sections are short so it will only take a matter of minutes to tackle the daily readings. Third, check back each Wednesday for a blog post from me about that weeks reading and comment on the post with your own personal take aways, insights, and God moments!

Here is a break down of the reading plan I will be following through out the month. You are welcome to use this rhythm or come up with your own. Just do what works best for you and your life!

Reading Schedule:

Week 1 (December 1 - 8) : The Purpose of Christmas Pages 1 - 9 & A Time for Celebration Pages 10 -37.

Week 2 (December 9 - 15): A Time for Salvation Pages 38 - 84

Week 3 (December 16 - 22): A Time for Reconciliation Pages 85 - 127

*Don't forget to join in on the discussion on my weekly posts right here on my blog. I will be posting each week on Wednesday (December 1, 8, 15, and 22)

Want to take it a step further and join in on also tackling a healthy body and a healthy mind this holiday season? Comment on this post and send me a message on FB or Instagram for more details on my Healthy Body and Healthy Mind December challenges as I also focus on Healthy Movement and Healthy Eating this Holiday Season!

So...WHO'S READY TO END 2021 STRONG - Body, Mind, & Spirit?!?! I know I am!
